I've never considered myself to be particularly creative. I don't sit around sketching random ideas all day in a magic notebook. Ironically, I think this is exactly why my clients connect so well with my work. I don't so much drive the process as gently steer it - every shoot is, to varying degrees, a collaboration. Not that I expect creative genius from my subjects, but I take pride in the way we treat every shoot as an opportunity to create something unique that is both relevant and significant.
When asked to describe my photographic style, it's hard to fit inside of a box given the breadth of my work, but in a broad sense I consider myself a modern-day classicist. I believe photography is an art and photographers are craftsmen - this is why I do all of my own editing and printing in-house. Great photography should stand the test of time, and I always strive to capture more than simply 'pretty pictures.' We live in a time where photography has become a digital commodity created with the intent of tweeting, tagging and viewing on a device that fits in your pocket. I believe we deserve for our photographs to be more than pixels. These new ways of sharing information and images are exciting, but they will never replace the traditional tangible books and fine-art prints.
I look forward to capturing you being you. Let's make something real together. Who knows, it might even be pretty.
I believe in hiring people who are smarter than me, and MT fits the bill. She is massively overqualified with her education and experience as Director of Human Resources at a Fortune 500 company, traveling the world, rubbing elbows with the corporate elite. Thankfully she decided to retire early from corporate America when her daughter was born in 2005, and being longtime family friends I was able to convince her to join my wolf pack, now consisting of… two wolves.
MT wears a lot of hats, but in a nutshell her job is to help me and to help you, with an emphasis on you. She handles inquiries, scheduling, phone consults, logistics, production, assists on most shoots, and on your wedding day she will be your own personal magician: ripped slacks, upset stomach, missing bouquet, fainting bride... we've seen it all and she will help solve problems big-and-small as they come (and they will).
