It was really surreal, walking around the streets of NYC that night. There was a nice cool breeze (the weather was absolutely amazing for almost all of the 10-day trip), and I was just soaking it all in: the sounds of the city – cabs whizzing by, sirens in the distance, the constant chatter of strangers walking by, the smell of street vendors’ carts as I strolled past, all the lights of the city… I’m standing on a street corner, staring off into the distance with nothing in particular on my mind, and suddenly a few groups of kids on bicycles fly past me and around the corner. And another. It was really strange for me, and I’m not really sure what it was that seemed odd, but I caught this triage riding past – I hope you find it as interesting as I do.

The photo was taken with manual focus, and I intentionally defocused it a bit because it adds even more to the surreal feel I had for the scene. My custom Lightroom sepia preset was used again in this shot.
